Tank is built with privacy as a core principle. We collect almost nothing, track nothing, and sell nothing.
What Tank collects
Tank uses your approximate location only while the app is open to show nearby fuel stations and prices. Your location is never stored, logged, or sent to any server beyond what's needed to display the map.
Tank stores your preferences locally on your device using standard iOS storage (UserDefaults). This includes:
- Your selected fuel type (e.g. U91, Diesel)
- Your tank size for cost calculations
- Display mode preferences
These preferences never leave your device.
What Tank does NOT collect
- Personal information (no name, email, or phone number)
- User accounts or login credentials
- Analytics or usage tracking
- Advertising identifiers
- Third-party tracking or cookies
- Precise or background location
Where fuel prices come from
All fuel price data is sourced from official government APIs:
- NSW FuelCheck API
- Queensland Government fuel data feed
- Tasmanian Government fuel data feed
- Western Australian Government fuel data feed
Tank does not scrape, crowdsource, or fabricate price data. Prices are updated approximately every 30 minutes from these government sources.
Third-party services
Tank does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app communicates only with government fuel price APIs and Apple's MapKit services to render the map.
Data sharing
Tank does not share, sell, or transfer any data to third parties. There is no data to share — we don't collect it in the first place.
Children's privacy
Tank is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, an updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Since Tank collects almost nothing, meaningful changes are unlikely.
